Philippines Celebrates World Accreditation Day
 |
On 09 June 2017, the Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB), in support of the global initiative of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation, will be celebrating World Accreditation Day simultaneously with other National Accreditation Bodies in other economies.
PAB has teamed up with the Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) and the Department of Public Works and Highways – Bureau of Standard and Research (BRS) on contractors’ accreditation and quality assurance for this initiative. CIAP, through the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB), will focus on the Licensing and Registration of Contractors and the Contractors Performance Evaluation System while BRS proposes to discuss the topic “Golden Age of Infrastructure” brought about by the booming construction sector in the Philippines. PAB will present the benefits of accreditation and its services.
We are expecting to host around one hundred participants from the construction industry and the government sectors. Through the forum, we hope that more organizations will be encouraged to appreciate and seek accreditation. We will highlight global examples from the Public Sector Assurance website to provide inspiration, especially to the people involved in construction.
Ultimately, we hope that this activity will not only strengthen the appreciation and use of accreditation in the construction sector, but also in other sectors to remove uncertainties on economic decisions that affect human life and environmental protection.
