EPTIS: who, what, where

You may know EPTIS: the website www.eptis.org on which PT providers publish and announce their PT schemes. Today, we list around 1350 PT schemes from 300 PT providers in 30 countries. Laboratories worldwide can use this free and easy service to find a suitable PT scheme. But do laboratories really use EPTIS and do they use it worldwide?

IFCC and international accreditation activities

The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) is the global body for setting and promoting high standards of practice in clinical laboratories. This includes the promotion of medical laboratory accreditation worldwide. Its membership includes recognised and established national societies of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, diagnostic companies and research establishments active in the specialty and allied international and national societies or groupings interested in the science and practice of laboratory medicine. In 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding was agreed between ILAC and IFCC to inform and support cooperation of the two bodies in the area of medical laboratory accreditation.
