WADA - Renewal of MoU between ILAC and WADA

Ten years of successful cooperation between the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was reconfirmed at the IV World Conference on Doping in Sport held on 12-15 November 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa by renewing the MoU.

The ILAC-WADA cooperation was formally recognized by signing the first MoU between the two international organizations in November 2007 during the 3rd World Conference on Doping in Sport held in Madrid (Spain) and further reconfirmed in October 2010 during the ILAC General Assembly organized in Shanghai (China).

The ILAC-WADA cooperation has a positive impact on the community of sports anti-doping laboratories in achieving a high quality of analysis, it certainly adds to the credibility of the WADA laboratory accreditation process in ensuring the delivery of accurate and reliable results worldwide.

The renewal of the ILAC-WADA MoU is the expression of mutual interests of both organizations and provides a sound framework for the tangible results in the global fight against doping in sport.  Under this MoU, 51 assessors from national accreditation bodies in 28 economies around the world have been trained by WADA in the ISL to conduct assessments of the WADA accredited laboratories.  Also as part of this MoU a joint Working Group (known as the ILAC/WADA Liaison Group) meets at least once a year to ensure coordination and harmonization of tasks related to accreditation of anti-doping laboratories.
