Reflections on the past, present and future
The IAF General Assembly in Shanghai, in October 2010, was my first opportunity to speak to the members as the IAF Chair. I fear I messed up the agenda by taking over an hour making my presentation, but I did receive positive comments from some members. 18th PAC Plenary meeting to be held in the Philippines
The 18thPlenary Meeting of the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) will be held in the City of Manila, Philippines on 11-18 June 2011. The venue of the meetings will be the historic Manila Hotel. Hosting the meeting for the first time is the Philippine Accreditation Office (PAO), with its Officer-in-Charge Jaime Lasaro L. Olmos overseeing the preparations for the hosting event since October of last year.

OAA: First accreditation body recognized by RTRS to assess certification bodies
During 2010, OAA, the Argentinian Accreditation Body actively participated in the Round Table on Responsible Soy Association which developed certification requirements and protocols of responsible soy, as well as for accreditation under the ISO / IEC Guide 65 for certification bodies working in this area.

IAAC MLA signatories and training
IAAC currently represents a total of 41 members from 23 countries in the Americas. 23 are full members, 7 are associate members and 11 are stakeholders. The previous period has seen several developments, including plans to extend the IAAC MLA scope, new signatories within the Region, and a number of training courses to continue to develop competence levels.

Change of Venue – IAF Technical Committee
IAF and ILAC members were planning to meet in Tunis, Tunisia in March 2010, as guests of TUNAC, the host for the meetings. However the unfolding events in the country presented ILAC and IAF with a decision of whether to move the meetings or cancel them.

The second edition of ISO/IEC 17021 Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems sets new requirements for the auditing of management systems and for auditor competence in order to increase the value of management system certification to public and private sector organizations worldwide.
