International Recognition of MAURITAS

2018 has been an exciting and rewarding year for the Mauritius Accreditation Service (MAURITAS). On 28 September 2018, the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC), during its 9th General Assembly and Meetings, approved MAURITAS’s admission as an arrangement member to the AFRAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). AFRAC, the Regional Accreditation Cooperation for the African continent, gained recognition by IAF and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in May 2018. Consequently, MAURITAS was de facto recognized by the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) and ILAC MRA.

MAURITAS achieved signatory status to the AFRAC MRA for the following scopes:

  • Testing (ISO/IEC 17025:2005),
  • Calibration (ISO/IEC 17025:2005), and
  • Certification (ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015) for the sub-scope of QMS (ISO 9001:2015 / ISO/IEC TS 17021-3:2013).
