Protecting and Promoting French Know-How: from Now on Manufactured Goods Are Eligible for Protected Indication
Until recently, only food, agricultural and forestry could benefit from Protected Geographical Indications at the European level. A 2014 French law broadened this protection to manufactured goods as well as natural resources: they are related to a territory based on their specific characteristics, know-how or manufacturing process, and must be controlled by accredited bodies.

BSCA: A Step Towards Harmonization
As a next step towards harmonizing legislation with the best conformity assessment practices, the new Law of the Republic of Belarus № 437-Z "On the assessment of compliance with technical requirements and accreditation of conformity assessment bodies" has been adopted and will come into force on 30 July 2017.

The African Accreditation Cooperation peer evaluators course was held from 1 to 2 May 2017 and attended by 18 peer evaluators and trainee evaluators from the Egyptian Accreditation Council, Ethiopian National Accreditation Office, Kenya Accreditation Service, Mauritius Accreditation Service, Tunisian Accreditation Council, South African National Accreditation System, and Southern African Development Community Accreditation Service.
