The Slovak National Accreditation Service (SNAS), the National Accreditation Body in Slovakia established by law as a public institution, accredits conformity assessment bodies in various fields. The operation of SNAS is regularly evaluated by the European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA).
SNAS has introduced a new IT system, which became a key platform for the operation of SNAS. All internal and external accreditation processes are now digital. SNAS, together with information technology company YMS, successfully implemented the complex project of transforming the accreditation service from a paper-based to an electronic service.
Digitalisation helped the whole organisation to operate more efficiently. As part of the digitalisation project, all work processes were reviewed. All unnecessary steps were cancelled and only key accreditation processes remained. Paper processes were replaced by digital ones and paper forms by completing digital forms online.
Technologically, the new system is a big step forward for SNAS. It consists of several integrated software solutions, all placed in virtual space on the cloud. SNAS chose complete electronisation and does not administer any software or hardware in house.
The accreditation information system (AIS) is an internet/intranet application published at https://ais.snas.sk. It manages all the processes related to accreditation as specified by particular standards and national law. It oversees every step of the accreditation process. It is the key communication tool between external assessors, internal work-groups of SNAS and applicants being accredited. It operates in the Slovak, English and Russian languages.
