EIAC CEO gets Emirates Women Award of the year 2019

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohamed, received the “Emirates Women Award 2019”. She was the overall winner in the professional category. There were seventy-five nominations of high achieving professionals in this category. She was recognized for her outstanding performance in leadership, strategic and financial planning, community contributions, innovation, and career achievements. The award ceremony was held on 29 April 2019, in Dubai.

 

The Emirates Women Award was launched in 2003. It is dedicated to encouraging United Arab Emirates (UAE) women to play their part in corporate affairs and to recognize and appreciate the women who have been successful in their respective careers/businesses. The award takes its participants through a journey of self-discovery and makes them realize their true potential.

 

 

EIAC Hosted Mid-Term Meetings of ARAC

The Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) hosted the Mid-Term regional meetings of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC). The meetings were from 05 - 07 March 2019, in Dubai, UAE. The ARAC Chair, Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed, who is also the CEO of EIAC, formally opened the meetings. She welcomed the delegates, noting with appreciated their role in the successful recognition of ARAC by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Mr. Moslem Barrak, ARAC Secretary, coordinated the meetings. Meetings of the ARAC MLA Committee, Communication and Marketing Committee, the Technical Committee and Executive Committee were held. The representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) also attended the meetings.

 

In connection with the Mid-Term meetings, the EIAC also hosted a regional training workshop on 03 - 04 March 2019, for the ARAC peer evaluators on the implementation of the new version of the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard and ILAC requirements.

 

 

EIAC to Launch New Accreditation Schemes for Certification of Persons and the Health Care Sector

The Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) has launched an accreditation scheme for the certification of persons working as Health & Safety Officers in laborers’ housing complexes/hostels. The Certification Bodies of persons shall be accredited according to the ISO/IEC 17024:2012 international standard.

The Health & Safety Department of the Dubai Municipality is the scheme owner. As per the local regulation, all laborers’ housing complexes/hostels in Dubai will be required to have at least one certified health & safety officer.

 

The EIAC is also working to launch new accreditation schemes for the health care sector. The new schemes are related to the accreditation of hospitals, clinics, point of care testing, mobile testing laboratories, and calibration laboratories for the calibration of medical testing equipment.

 

EIAC Board of Directors’ First Meeting

The EIAC Board of Directors held its first meeting in February 2019. Ms. Amina Ahmed, CEO of EIAC, briefed board members on the progress achieved by EIAC, including the strategic objectives, key performance indicators, and customer happiness ratings.  Board members were pleased with EIAC’s progress.
